Thed Björk heads a Lynk & Co 1-2 to his first win of 2020

Thed Björk won his first World Touring Car Cup race of 2020 in the final race of the weekend at MotorLand Aragón, heading Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team-mate Santiago Urrutia to a 1-2 for the Swedish outfit.

The Swede started second but took the lead from Gilles Magnus before the first corner.

The safety car was called into action after an incident at the end of the first lap between Luca Engstler and Néstor Girolami.

Engstler hit the Honda driver when braking after the long straight, eliminating both from the race.

The race resumed again on lap four.

Audi driver Magnus came under fire from Urrutia who was able to get past for second place on lap seven at the Corkscrew.

Magnus continued to drop positions, with Hyundai driver Gabriele Tarquini and Comtoyou Racing team-mate Nathanaël Berthon getting past for positions three and four.

Jean-Karl Vernay was back after his Race 2 retirement to finish sixth for Team Mulsanne ahead of Zengo Motorsport driver Mikel Azcona.

Esteban Guerrieri made progress from the back of the grid yet again, getting past title rival Yann Ehrlacher to finish tenth.

And Lynk & Co driver Ehrlacher had a difficult race, suffering engine issues to drop down to finish 12th after being as high as eighth earlier in the race.

His team-mate Yvan Muller suffered a similar issue, finishing 14th.

Trouble continued for reigning champion Norbert Michelisz who pitted with a tyre issue and finished 16th.

Ehrlacher remain on top of the standings despite a difficult weekend, heading main rival Guerrieri by 26 points.

Muller and Vernay are tied for third on 146 points, 42 points from the lead.

The WTCR field returns to MotorLand Aragón on November 14-15 for the season finale.
