Mikel Azcona added to Spa grid

Former champion Mikel Azcona will make a one off return to the TCR Europe fold this weekend after securing a drive with the Volcano Motorsport team.

The Spaniard, who won the title back in 2018, will be at the wheel of a Cupra TCR alongside team regular Evgenii Leonov, who has taken a best finish of twelfth so far this season.

The pair have raced together in the domestic Campeonato de España Resistencia series at the wheel of a Cupra and currently lead the standings with five wins from six races.

Azcona’s main programme this season has been in the WTCR with the new Cupra Leon Competición, with the Zengo Motorsport man currently ninth in the standings.
