W2 Racing confirm two Hondas for inaugural TCR South America season
W2 Racing will enter two Honda Civic Type-R TCR race cars for the inaugural TCR South America season in 2021.
The team will receive support from JAS Motorsport, the constructors of the Honda TCR cars, and has confirmed one driver so far in the form of Raphael Reis.
“I am very happy to announce our entry into TCR South America,” said Reis to Motorsport Brazil.
“I have always watched WTCR and other TCR series around the world and became interested as soon as I saw that TCR would come to South America. Naturally, the idea was developed with [team manager] Serafin, with whom I have worked for four years. Realizing the dream of racing internationally with people I trust at work makes me very excited.”
The 37-year-old Brazilian claimed the 2018 Stock Light Brazil title and is currently racing for W2 Racing in the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro de Stock Light season.
The team has stated that the second driver will be revealed in due course.
“We are very motivated to take W2 Racing to an international challenge with Raphael Reis, whom we have already won a championship with,” said Serafin Júnior, team manager.
“We are proud to represent Honda, a very strong manufacturer in the Brazilian market and to have the support of Honda JAS Motorsport.”
