Tobias Brink dominates Mantorp qualifying to two pole positions

Tobias Brink claimed two superior pole positions in the penultimate STCC TCR Scandinavia qualifying session of 2020 at Mantorp Park.

The Brink Motorsport driver beat the Lestrup Racing Team duo of Oliver Söderström and Rob Huff by 0.598 and 0.606 seconds respectively in the Q2 session.

The five points Brink was awarded for the pole has elevated him to second place in the standings, seven points behind reigning champion Robert Dahlgren of PWR Racing.

Kågered Racing managed to get all three drivers into the final Q2 session with Emil Persson fourth ahead of local driver Mattias Andersson.

Mikael Karlsson was sixth ahead of team-mate Andreas Ahlberg in seventh, eight and nine tenths of a second from pole respectively.

Dahlgren, who has got a five-place penalty from the previous race weekend, was eighth fastest but will start 13th in the first race.

Dahlgren’s Cupra team-mate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky was ninth fastest and the first driver to miss the Q2 session.

Brink was fastest in the Q1 session as well and will start the first two races from pole position.

Huff was second fastest in Q1 ahead of team-mate Söderström, Persson and Andersson.

The grid for the third and final raceQ is set from the results of Race 2 where positions 1-8 will start in reversed order.

Brink Motorsport driver Hannes Morin had another dreadful session, going off in the Mjölby corner and had to sit out the session, just as in the final practice session.

The first race of the weekend starts tomorrow at 10:00 CEST.
