Adam Morgan pleased with positive weekend

Adam Morgan admitted he was delighted by a strong weekend on track at Silverstone that cemented his top ten position in the BTCC standings.

The Ciceley Motorsport driver qualified in a solid eighth place at the wheel of his Mercedes A Class, and a strong start to race day saw him fight his way into the top six.

Keen to build on that result as he looked to recover points lost in the previous meeting at Thruxton, Morgan pushed hard in the opening laps to move up into the top four and was then able to secure third place late on when Tom Ingram suffered a puncture.

That marked the 30th podium finish of his career.

After the final race was red-flagged as a result of Rory Butcher’s accident, Morgan finished the weekend with a solid fifth place after losing a spot late on as he suffered with a power steering issue.

Morgan now sits eighth in the standings with three rounds left to run.

“It’s been a really good weekend,” he said. “To come here and have three top six finishes is good for anyone, and it’s nice to be on the podium again. We made some big decisions on set-up between race one and two that paid off. Race three was bruising to say the least, but we came through it.

“Silverstone is a very tough place to race as you can be on the inside for one corner and then you’re stuck on the outside for the next if you don’t get the move done. You have to place your car in the right place, be aggressive and get your elbows out. That’s what we did and I’m chuffed to bits with the results.”
