Jean-Karl Vernay confirmed at Romeo Ferraris for inaugural PURE ETCR season
Jean-Karl Vernay has been confirmed at Romeo Ferraris for the inaugural PURE ETCR season.
“I’m glad to have the possibility to contribute to a unique new project,” said Vernay.
The Frenchman will drive the new Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR which is currently under development ahead of 2021.
“I want to thank Romeo Ferraris, and in particular Michela Cerruti and Mario Ferraris who have believed in me and reconfirmed their confidence entrusting me an important and exciting task like developing a new car,” said Vernay.
“It is something that I have done in the past, but it will be the first time I will do it for an electric car, and this is tremendously attractive and motivating as well looking at the new innovative Pure ETCR concept developed by Eurosport Events.”
Vernay is currently racing an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR for Team Mulsanne in the World Touring Car Cup.
The Frenchman will get behind the wheel of the new PURE ETCR Alfa Romeo at the series launch event in Copenhagen on October 8th.
“I am very happy to announce that Jean-Karl is part also of our plans concerning electric racing,” said Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris operations manager.
“In the weeks he has been working with us in the FIA WTCR, he has been immediately at ease with our team and the personnel that works from home, who are all directly involved in the design and development of the Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR.
