Jack Young ruled out of second Nürburgring race
Jack Young will miss the second race of the weekend at the Nürburgring as a result of his incident in Thursday’s opening encounter on the Nordschleife.
The Vukovic Motorsport driver slid off into the barriers in tricky wet conditions in race one whilst looking to make progress from eleventh place on the grid, damaging the front end of his Renault Megane.
The youngster tried to get the car back to the pits before being forced to park up in sector four.
Once back in the paddock, the team worked hard to try and repair the damage but it would ultimately be in vain, with the Megane unable to make it to the start.
“I’ve not had the experience in this car in the wet so we went into race one blind,” he said on Friday evening. “I was trying to follow Tiago [Monteiro] in front but made a mistake, and as soon as I locked up, it was game over.
“I’m sorry for the team as they have made a big effort and unfortunately we have come away with nothing again.”
