Esteban Guerrieri grateful to Attila Tassi for car loan
Esteban Guerrieri was appreciative of Münnich Motorsport team-mate Attila Tassi following Thursday’s pre-season WTCR test at Zolder, after the Hungarian handed his own car over to his star Honda team-mate.
Guerrieri endured a troublesome day in Belgium after his Honda Civic Type R TCR developed a technical problem early on, relegating the 2019 championship runner-up to the sidelines for most of the day.
“We had to discover the issue throughout the day because we couldn’t find it exactly,” Guerrieri told TouringCarTimes. “We thought it was a sensor, in the end it was a small issue with the looming.”
In an effort to try and claw back some of the lost track time before the issue was finally fixed late in the afternoon, Guerrieri was offered a helping hand from team-mate Attila Tassi – who tactfully lent the Argentinian his own car for some exploratory laps.
“I tried some laps in Attila’s car to get up to speed with the track as it’s been a long time since I’ve driven here. I did some practice starts and it was fine – it was nice that Attila lent me his car. He was already up to speed in the morning, so for me until we found the issue it was important to try to get up to speed, which I did, so yeah – everything is sorted.
“I did three runs of two or three laps each and a couple of starts as well.”
Münnich Motorsport are confident that the looming issues that hampered Guerrieri on Thursday have now been fixed for the rest of the weekend, which marks the start of the 2020 World Touring Car Cup season.
