Tom Ingram: “We’re primed for a good one.”

Tom Ingram says he feels Speedworks are “primed for a good one” on race day at Knockhill after qualifying fifth on the grid for the latest rounds of the BTCC season.

The Toyota man bounced back from a gearbox leak that hampered his running in practice to secure a place on the third row of the grid in Scotland and will now look to convert that into at least a podium finish in Sunday’s three races.

Ingram could have potentially gone quicker had it not been for a spin off on the next lap after he posted his fastest time, but he was still pleased with the way things had panned out.

“P5 is good although I’ve looked at TSL and we should have linked it together a bit more,” he said. “But Knockhill qualifying is very fraught as there is always a lot going on and it is tough to get a lap sorted. Luckily it’s not like Oulton Park where I was starting from the centre of Chester; instead I’m in a good place to go forward and am with the people I want to race.

“We’re primed for a good one from here and we need one to be honest. We’ve gone through the data and found a few areas to improve for tomorrow and whilst qualifying was good, I think we have more pace to unlock which is exciting.”
