Robert Dahlgren goes below Skellefteå lap record during testing

Reigning STCC TCR Scandinavia champion Robert Dahlgren went below the Skellefteå Drivecenter Arena lap record during testing ahead of the second race weekend of 2020.

The Cupra León Competición driver lapped the circuit in 1:53.045 and was two seconds faster than the race lap record and four tenths below the qualifying lap record.

Dahlgren set his fastest time during the afternoon session and was eight tenths of a second ahead of Kågered Racing driver Andreas Ahlberg, who topped the morning session.

Volkswagen driver Mikael Karlsson was third fastest, just 0.016 seconds behind his Kågered Racing team-mate.

Hannes Morin was fastest of the Audi RS 3 LMS drivers in fourth position and the final driver to be within one second of local driver Dahlgren.

Points leader Oliver Söderström was fifth fastest behind the wheel of his Lestrup Racing Team-prepared Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, 1.1 seconds from Dahlgren.

Last year’s runner-up Tobias Brink was sixth fastest for Brink Motorsport with Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky seventh for PWR Racing. Emil Persson of Kågered Racing rounded off the top eight and reported brake issues earlier during the session.

Honda driver Mattias Andersson was ninth fastest ahead of Rob Huff in tenth position, more than two seconds from Dahlgren’s time.

13 drivers took part in the test, with Isac Aronsson skipping this race weekend but will be back for the next round at Mantorp Park.

Next up for the STCC drivers is the first free practice session, starting at 09:30 CEST tomorrow.
