Jake Hill: “Our pace isn’t in doubt”
Jake Hill says he is hopeful that the Oulton Park weekend will finally provide the chance to put some strong points on the board after a tough start to his BTCC campaign with MB Motorsport.
Hill has managed just one points score so far after running in a number of issues thus far in 2020, including three engine failures on his Honda Civic Type R.
The team has worked hard with Swindon to try and solve the issues ahead of round three in Cheshire, where Hill will hope to turn the kind of pace that saw him qualify on the second row at Brands Hatch into some strong points on the board.
“There were flashes of brilliance at Brands Hatch – Saturday morning and qualifying showed just what we can do but we know we need to be enjoying those types of feelings come Sunday afternoon,” he said. “That is exactly what I am aiming for this weekend and I see no reason as to why we can’t.
“Points-wise we are way off the pace, but what isn’t in doubt is the pace of the car – and I guess in me. We were rapid in pre-season testing, we topped both practice sessions at Brands, and have qualified in the top-ten for both races so far.
“Assuming the reliability issues are behind us then we should be in a very strong position.”
