Toyota Argentina confirm construction of sedan TCR model

Toyota Argentina has confirmed that work has begun on a Toyota sedan model in TCR specification ahead of the TCR South America series start in 2021.

“We already have authorization from the parent company to manufacture a sedan,” said Daniel Herrero, president of Toyota Argentina, to MundoSport.

It has also been confirmed that the TCR model, which is yet to be named but is likely to be the Corolla sedan, will be sold outside of the South American market.

“This will generate more work in the country,” said Herrero.

Further details have not yet been confirmed, but Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina, that runs the Toyota Super TC2000 and Top Race programmes, are likely to be responsible for the construction.

This would be the first Toyota model to be built to the TCR regulations.
