IMSA racer Alex Papadopulos to drive second Copeland Hyundai
Copeland Motorsports has announced that it will field Alex Papadopulos in its second Hyundai Veloster N TCR when the TC America season resumes next weekend at Virginia International Raceway.
Papadopulos, who is racing a similar car in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge this season, will line up alongside championship leader Tyler Maxson, who won both races at the Circuit of the Americas back in March.
“Obviously I look forward to working with Dean and the entire Copeland Motorsports crew and getting back into the Hyundai TCR,” he said.
“I am excited for the chance to obtain some race experience through SRO and TC America in the same class I compete in with IMSA, and I look forward to transitioning into the sprint race platform as a refreshing change and new challenge.”
Papadopulos will take over the car that was raced by Nikko Reger in the only event that was run before the COVID-19 pandemic saw race action grind to a halt.
