Further revisions planned for TCR Europe calendar

The organisers of the TCR Europe series have revealed that they are working on further revisions to the 2020 calendar as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

A revised calendar has been released earlier in the month that was set to begin at Oschersleben in June, but an extension on the ban of large gatherings in Germany means that that event has now fallen by the wayside – with organisers unable to secure a new date for the circuit to host a race later in the year.

With the planned third round of the season alongside the Spa 24 Hours also needing to be moved as a result of Belgium extending its ban on large gatherings until the end of August, the decision has been taken to now target a season that would begin in late August or early September.

Rounds at Zolder, Monza and Barcelona are slated to retain the dates that they had been assigned, with events at Paul Ricard, Spa and a new meeting at Jarama to be slotted in to create a six round schedule.

The Spa date would be down to when the 24 Hours is run, with the TCR race remaining part of the support package, whilst Paul Ricard could be moved to another circuit is no date can be agreed.

A final version of the provisional calendar will be released in due course.

11/13 September – Zolder
25/27 September – Monza
09/11 October – Barcelona
