Alexandra Whitley secures Albert Park entry

Alexandra Whitley has confirmed that she will compete in the TCR Asia Pacific Cup event at Albert Park this weekend with Melbourne Performance Centre.

Whitley, who took a best finish of ninth in TCR Australia last season, will compete in the same Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR that she raced in 2019 with support from electronics company Haier.

The deal with both team and sponsor is currently for the F1 support event only, with Whitley hopeful of putting a deal in place to then return for the full TCR Australia season.

“I’m really excited to be racing at the Grand Prix,” she said. “It’s a new track for me and I’m looking forward to the hype of the weekend.

“I’m proud to be representing Haier on the global stage of a major event like this. I’m very thankful for their support and we are going to be doing our best to get the Volkswagen near the front of the field.

“I’m stoked to be back and put into place what I learnt last year. It was a terrific series to be involved with and I’m aiming to get onto the grid for every race this year.”
