Coca-Cola Commodore for Courtney as Team Sydney break cover
James Courtney’s 2020 Supercars Championship challenger has broken cover as the newly formed Team Sydney is officially revealed at the season launch.
Backed by Coca-Cola Amatil, the Triple Eight-built Holden Commodore is one of two that the former Tekno squad will campaign this season, headed up by the 2010 series champion.
Though the team’s second driver has not yet been revealed, it is likely that 2018 Super2 champion Chris Pither will join Courtney in Jonathon Webb’s team, being operated out of a temporary base at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Sydney born and raised Courtney will be the team’s main driver as the squad completes its move from their Gold Coast base to the New South Wales capital, being the first team in 15 years to base its operations in Australia’s most populous city.
Campaigning the #19 for his first year with the team, Courtney’s sponsor and number were last used together in 1999 by Wayne Gardner Racing, the 1987 500cc World Champion running a VT Commodore in his final year in Supercars.
