Richie Stanaway sidelined by Garry Rogers Motorsport for disciplinary reasons
A year of pain for Garry Rogers Motorsport has continued as the team has decided to sideline Richie Stanwaway for Sunday’s Supercars Championship Gold Coast 600 race after he missed a signing session.
Stanaway allegedly missed a compulsory fan signing session this morning, being punished by his team and sent home for the discretion.
The Kiwi missed multiple rounds this year after reaggravating an old injury from when he broke his back at Spa Francorchamps in 2012 driving a Formula Renault car.
Replacing Stanaway will be Dylan O’Keeffe, a rising star of the TCR Australia and Porsche Carrera Cup series, while Chris Pither remains as the car’s co-driver.
It’s been a hard fortnight for the Melbourne squad, announcing their departure from Supercars after 24 years at the end of this season due to financial and competition issues.
