Tom Coronel disqualified from qualifying

Tom Coronel has been disqualified from the first World Touring Car Cup qualifying session at Suzuka due to Comtoyou Racing breaching refuelling regulations.

The team refuelled Coronel’s car during the session with Coronel still inside the car and the assisting mechanic was not wearing fire-retardant clothing.

The Dutch driver, who was in 28th position on the provisional grid for the first race, has also been given a five-place grid drop as his car was not in the pit lane for the start of the Q1 session.

The team was fined a total of €1.700 for the infringements.
