Mat’o Homola, Jessica Bäckman added to Touring Car Cup grid
World Touring Car Cup race-winner Mat’o Homola and his current TCR Europe team-mate Jessica Bäckman have been announced in the latest raft of drivers who will compete in the Touring Car Cup race at the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games.
The pair are two of five drivers added to the initial list of eleven that was released last month, with Slovakia and Sweden being joined on the grid by entries representing the USA, Kuwait and Switzerland.
Both Homola and Bäckman will be at the wheel of Hyundai i30 N TCRs for the event, as will Mason Filippi as he joins the grid at the wheel of the Team USA entry.
That marks a change in model for Filippi, who has been competing in the new Veloster N TCR this season during his programmes in both TC America and the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
Team Kuwait’s entry will be run by Comtoyou Racing, with Salem Al Nusif at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS, with the Swiss entry seeing experienced racer Jörg Schori join the grid in the sole Opel Astra TCR currently entered.
Hungary is the only nation of the 16 yet to announce a driver or car for the event at Vallelunga in early November.
