Track Tec Racing to run three Audis in inaugural TCR NZ season
The newly-formed Track Tec Racing team has announced they will run three of the Audi RS 3 LMS cars which have been successfully in TCR racing globally when the TCR New Zealand championship begins in 2020.
Based at the Highlands Motorsport Park, Track Tec Racing has received one RS 3 LMS so far with two more coming from the Melbourne Performance Centre team which has already racked up a handful of wins in this year’s first season of TCR Australia.
Run by experienced heads in Matt Waters and Carmen Doran, Track Tec will have mechanics in the team who have backgrounds in TCR Australia and Asia, looking to get a leg up in the first season of the series in New Zealand.
While no drivers have been announced for the team yet, they are offering arrive and drive packages for drivers looking for experience in the class and are looking at featuring some of their drivers in the Australian Grand Prix support races next year in Melbourne.
Team manager Waters said he is excited to join the TCR fold and compete in Audi’s challenger in the 2 litre turbo class.
“It is very exciting to add to the TCR Series cars to our racing program for 2019 and beyond,” he said.
“We have watched the development of the category around the world, and once the TCR series was announced for New Zealand it was the logical option for our team.
“The Audi TCR cars a proven product worldwide, and the support from MPC is second to none, so we feel that we are in a great place to kick start our TCR journey.”
