Kelly Racing reveal slimmed-down Queensland line-up
Kelly Racing has announced that it will field a changed line-up for the next round of the TCR Australia Series season this weekend in Queensland.
The team will revert to a three-car line-up having elected to run just a single Subaru WRX STi TCR in the latest rounds of the campaign, having encountered a number of teething issues with the car so far this season.
Whilst Molly Taylor will continue in the #6 Subaru, the #777 entry of Andre Heimgartner will not be in action, with Heimgartner instead moving over into the Holden Astra that has been raced so far by Chelsea Angelo. Alex Rullo will remain in the second Astra.
Heimgartner will work alongside a senior engineer from Lubner Motorsport to work through some engine performance-related niggles on the Astra, with the plan being for Angelo to then return to the car at Winton next month.
“We have made a few changes to our TCR program for Queensland, and we feel that this will put us in a stronger position for the rest of the 2019 season,” team owner Todd Kelly said. “We are absolutely committed to the Subaru TCR programme. As we’ve seen, the cars have really great speed, but there are some aspects that we have discovered that we need to work on.
“I’ve been acting as Chelsea’s engineer, and she has the ability to be further towards the front, but while we continue to unlock the potential of the Astra, we felt it would be best to get the input of Andre’s experience.
“While it has been an up and down start, we are quite confident that a really strong result for our TCR cars is just around the corner. The racing is really close and as we’ve seen, anything can happen.”
