Loïc Duval tops second free practice at the Norisring
Loïc Duval continued the dominance of Audi at the Norisring, setting the fastest lap time in the second free practice session at the Norisring.
Duval clocked a fastest lap time of 46.635 in a session where the heat was a key ingredient, with air temperatures over 30º C, with team-mate at Phoenix Mike Rockenfeller in second place 0.133 seconds behind.
Bruno Spengler was the fastest BMW driver in third for Team RMG, with Team RBM’s Philipp Eng right behind, two-tenths off the pace.
Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline’s Nico Müller was fifth, followed by championship leader René Rast, three-tenths behind Duval.
BMW driver Timo Glock, Joel Eriksson and Marco Wittmann followed, with the local hero already 0.462 seconds off the pace, with Audi Sport Team Abt Sportline’s Robin Frijns completing the top ten.
Daniel Juncadella was the fastest driver for R-Motorsport, taking his Aston Martin Vantage DTM to 14th place, with team-mate Paul di Resta closing the classification in 16th position. Jake Dennis and Ferdinand Habsburg were unable to take part in the session due to technical issues.
DTM action at the Norisring resumes on Saturday morning at 10:25 CEST for the qualifying session for Race 1.
