Dusan Borkovic furious after Spa Race 2 disaster
Dusan Borkovic left the Spa-Francorchamps circuit upset and angry with the behaviour of Peugeot driver Jimmy Clairet, when he was taken out of second place after the restart.
The Target Competition driver started from pole position in his Hyundai i30 N TCR, and kept the lead on the first lap, but after an early safety car, he was quickly passed in a straight line by the JSB Peugeot of Julien Briché, before he was knocked into a spin at Les Combes by Clairet’s Peugeot.
Briché and Clairet went on to finish 1-2, with Borkovic’s team-mate Mat’o Homola third.
“I just want to say that this season is not for me. I don’t have any luck. I’m really disappointed with everything,” said Borkovic to TouringCarTimes.
“Two weeks’ ago it was Hockenheim with that drive-through penalty, and now here we’re driving with rocket ships like the Peugeots and the Volkswagen Group cars – they’re driving 50km/h faster than me.
“After the safety car, Briché overtook me, and then Clairet, that stupid guy, just pushed me at the braking at 240km/h. Since I’ve had a lot of problems I just want to leave before I make some other problem.”
The incident between Clairet and Borkovic is one of seven incidents under investigation.
