Ash Sutton focussing on Spa Race 2 after disaster start in first race
Ash Sutton recovered from dead last to finish 19th in the first race at Spa-Francorchamps, when the 2017 BTCC champion failed to get away from the grid in his WRT Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.
Sutton had qualified in fourth place in the car, but an electronics problem meant the car failed to get away for the formation lap, with WRT restarting the car from the pit lane.
“They’re still checking, but there was no communication from the steering wheel – and the start button’s on the steering wheel,” said Sutton to TouringCarTimes.
“We were picking off people as and when, and just trying to get a feel and a balance for the car ready for tomorrow’s race.
“We’re starting P7 tomorrow, which isn’t as good as P4 – I’d have liked to have started from P4 today and seen what we could have done, but let’s see what we can do tomorrow.”
