Andreas Ahlberg wins the second race at Anderstorp
Andreas Ahlberg has won the second race at Anderstorp, his first career win in Scandinavian touring cars, while fifth for Robert Dahlgren was enough to see the PWR Racing driver take the lead of the standings by one point over Ahlberg.
Jessica Bäckman started from pole position in her Target Competition Hyundai and got away well, but Ahlberg quickly passed his Micke Kågered Racing team-mate Tomas Engström for second, before making his move to take the lead from Bäckman at the Grand Prix curve on the first lap.
The Audi of Tobias Brink had also made a great start and passed Engström’s Volkswagen at Mattsons, before overtaking Bäckman before the lap was over to be running in second place.
Engström was now on his own in fourth, followed by Mattias Andersson’s Honda and the two PWR Racing Cupras of Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Robert Dahlgren.
Dahlgren passed his team-mate on lap two at Hansenkurvan and began a long battle with Andersson’s Honda for fifth, while Åhlin-Kottulinsky fought to hold on to seventh ahead of Andreas Wernersson.
An error on lap five saw her drop to the back of the pack, but she recovered through to finish in tenth, claiming a single point.
Dahlgren hassled Andersson for lap after lap, eventually making his move again at Hansenkurvan with three laps to go, which ensured he’d take the lead of the standings.
Ahlberg went on to secure his and Micke Kågered Racing’s first win, and now trails Dahlgren by just one point in the standings going to Dahlgren’s home race in Skellefteå in two weeks’ time.
Brink finished second, while Bäckman finished a career-best third, following up on her podium at Hockenheim in the TCR Europe series a week ago.
