Stian Paulsen says he doesn’t understand what Borkovic was thinking
Stian Paulsen’s second TCR Europe series race at Hockenheim lasted less than a lap before the Cupra driver was pushed off track by Target Competition’s Dusan Borkovic, with the Serbian handed a drive-through penalty by the stewards as a result.
Paulsen had gone wide before rejoining ahead of Borkovic, but the Hyundai driver then nudged Paulsen’s Cupra into a spin and into retirement, with the safety car needed to recover the Norwegian’s car.
“Yesterday, I was overtaking Borkovic, fair and square,” said Paulsen to TouringCarTimes.
“I was on the inside and I had my front tyres next to his front tyres, and he went wide, and I guess he was not so happy, as on my first lap today he came like a rocket from behind. I was sent sideways off the track and I hit my left into the barrier.”
Borkovic served his penalty before opting to retire from the race, soon after then leaving the circuit.
“I don’t understand his thinking,” added Paulsen. “As he got a drive-through penalty. He destroyed both of our races, I don’t understand, but that’s his business.”
