Dan Lloyd says mistake cost him a shot at pole position
Dan Lloyd will start this afternoon’s race at Hockenheim from eighth on the grid in his Brutal Fish Racing Team Honda Civic TCR, after a mistake on his run in Q2 meant he was unable to replicate his time from the first qualifying segment.
The British driver is making his TCR Europe series debut this weekend, after winning the TCR UK championship title last year and is the current TCR China championship points leader.
As Lloyd is a late entry, he carries the 20kg late entry or wild card ballast, so is running a little heavier than his Honda rivals this weekend.
“I’m kicking myself a little bit as I didn’t want to make any mistakes, and I made a costly mistake in Q2,” said Lloyd to TouringCarTimes.
“I was two-tenths up on my Q1 time on my lap in the first sector, so I was definitely fighting for pole. But I’m happy to be fighting for the top positions. I would have liked to have thought I could have got into the 1:46s, but coulda, shoulda, woulda.”
Lloyd’s eighth place converts to third for the top ten reversed grid Race 2 tomorrow, where he’ll start behind Julien Briché’s Peugeot and Jessica Bäckman’s Hyundai.
