Yann Ehrlacher slams rivals’ “sandbagging” claims
Yann Ehrlacher has accused the Cyan Racing team’s rivals of being overly preoccupied with the pace of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, and not focussing on their own – while shrugging off claims that the team were now showing their true pace in Slovakia in order to gain a Balance of Performance adjustment.
The Frenchman scored his first pole position on Sunday morning at Zandvoort, converting it into a second-place finish in the third race of the day, with Lynk & Co securing a second 1-2 finish of the weekend, after their best finish a week earlier was tenth place.
“I’m not really happy with the fact that everyone is too focussed on what we’re doing. If we’re sandbagging or not – and we are definitely not sandbagging,” said Ehrlacher to TouringCarTimes.
“Maybe they should take this time they’re spending looking at us to work a bit more on their cars and improve their set-up.
“For this weekend, we just pressed reset. Slovakiaring was the first circuit where we were hitting sixth gear, and we were not right on the set-up. We discovered afterwards we should have done some things another way. We wouldn’t have had the pace to be top five, but maybe top ten and to survive.”
