Cyan Racing drivers at a loss to explain improvement in pace
Cyan Racing’s drivers have said they’re surprised with the dramatic upturn in performance of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, after the team’s four cars topped Saturday’s qualifying session at Zandvoort.
Thed Björk romped to pole position, with team-mates Yvan Muller, Andy Priaulx and Yann Ehrlacher completing the top four in qualifying, half a second clear of Mikel Azcona’s PWR Racing Cupra TCR in fifth.
“Honestly I am very surprised because what we saw yesterday in practice everybody put on new tyres and we were quite close,” said Muller.
“We don’t understand why we are so far in front. It was very good team work today, fantastic, but I am surprised of the performance compared to the others. We were expecting to be in the top five but not so well so I am surprised but on the same time it’s not a surprise because there are a lot of corners here and our car is good in that kind of conditions.”
Pole-sitter Thed Björk added:
“It’s great result for us but I am actually a little surprised we are here. After the problems of one week ago to bounce back is crazy actually and it feels good. Everything felt fresh, on the edge, it felt perfect.”
