Andrew Jordan well placed for strong points

Andrew Jordan says he feels confident of fighting for three strong results at Thruxton after qualifying third on the grid for the latest rounds of the BTCC season.

The WSR driver headed into the weekend keen to fight back from the disappointment of Donington Park, where his accident in race one ruled him out of the remainder of race day.

With his car now fully repaired, Jordan was right on the pace in free practice and looked well set for pole in qualifying as he topped the times before the red flag was thrown with 90 seconds on the clock after the incident involving Tom Chilton and Mark Blundell.

That resulted in the clock being reset to five minutes and when the session resumed, both Sam Tordoff and Dan Cammish were able to edge ahead – although Jordan said he was still pleased to be lining up on the second row.

“We were sat on pole with 90 seconds to go and I was wondering when my last pole had been, so there is some disappointment on one hand that we didn’t get it,” he said. “However on the other hand, I’m really happy that we are in a position to fight for some good points as the car was a bit tricky to drive today and it would have been easy to lose time by being a bit greedy and pushing too much.

“When we tested here last month, we tried a lot of things on my car and they didn’t all work, but the car now feels more like it did at Brands Hatch. I’m sure that we can challenge for wins and podiums from where we are on the grid, and it would be ideal if we could come away from race day with three top six finishes.

“Tyre management will be key as I’m not sure the front wheel drive cars will suffer as much with the new tyre as they have in the past. We have to get the set-up right but this is certainly a confidence boost after what happened at Donington.”
