Gabriele Tarquini handed penalty after Yann Ehrlacher contact
Gabriele Tarquini has been given a five-place grid penalty for the next race the Slovakiaring, following his incident with Cyan Racing Lynk & Co driver Yann Ehrlacher in Race 2 at the Hungaroring.
The Italian made contact with the side of Ehrlacher’s 03 TCR as he made his way past at Turn 1 on lap seven, following behind his BRC Racing Hyundai team-mate Nicky Catsburg.
Ehrlacher was pushed out wide and then retired to the pits with damage, with the team working up until the start of Race 3 to allow Ehrlacher to take his grid spot of third, which he then converted into a podium finish.
Tarquini will have to serve the five-place penalty on top of wherever he qualifies for Race 1 in Slovakia.
Title rival Yvan Muller, who had been given a drive-through penalty in Race 3 after contact with his Cyan Racing team-mate Andy Priaulx, was also given a two-point endorsement on his racing licence.
