Oettinger confirm TCR Germany entry alongside Engstler
Tuning company Oettinger has announced that it will move into the ADAC TCR Germany championship in 2019 in partnership with Engstler Motorsport.
Oettinger – which has a long history of working with Volkswagen machinery both on and off track – will field a pair of Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs in the series for TCR Asia series front-runner Mitchell Cheah and Maurits Sandberg, who has raced an Audi for the past two seasons.
“The ADAC TCR Germany is one of the most interesting touring car championships in Europe, and, with the entry of the Volkswagen Golf GTI cars, it is ideal for us to go chasing quick lap times,” team principal Rüdiger Völkner said.
Kai Jordan, who has raced for Engstler Motorsport himself in recent years, will take on a role of team co-ordinator for the programme
“We are excited about this cooperation and are certain that, together with Oettinger, we have a great season ahead of us,” Engstler sporting director Kurt Treml said. “Mitchell Cheah was already successful for us in TCR Asia and will now participate in his first German series.”
