TCR Iberian series present revised calendar
The TCR Iberian series has revised its 2019 calendar after the cancellation of two events that were scheduled to be organised by VdV Sports.
The season opener in Barcelona and what was scheduled to be the penultimate meeting of the campaign at Navarra have both fallen by the wayside, although the promoter has still managed to retain a four-event schedule.
The campaign will now kick off at Estoril on 13-14 April, before the round at Vila Real supporting the WTCR on the weekend of 5-7 July.
A rescheduled race meeting in Barcelona on the 20-22 September alongside the TCR Europe series will follow, before the season finale in Portimao on 26-27 October as a support for the European Le Mans Series.
Promoter Paulo Ferreira said: “Following the cancellation of the VdV Sports events we have reached an agreement with the Portuguese National Sporting Authorithy FPAK for establishing a TCR Class within the Portuguese Racing Open at Estoril and Vila Real. And on top of this we took the opportunity to join the TCR Europe series at Barcelona.”
Ferreira also confirmed that 60,000 EUR of prize money will be awarded: 30,000 to the overall winner and 30,000 to the winner of the DSG class. The prize money is bound to participation in the 2020 TCR Europe series.
