BMW confirm Catsburg, Linde, Jensen and Yelloly for rookie test
BMW has confirmed that they will run four new drivers during their mid-December test as part of the DTM Young Driver Tests.
Behind the wheel will be Nicky Catsburg who races for BMW in their GT programmes, as well as recently being confirmed for Hyundai in the 2019 WTCR alongside his BMW programme.
“I’ve wanted to try such a car for a long time. I don’t see it as a shootout for next year but more as an opportunity to drive these cars. It’s one of the top championships in the world so it’s very cool,” said Catsburg.
South African driver Sheldon van der Linde, who has raced for Audi in GTs, will also take part in the test alongside Mikkel Jensen who raced for BMW Team Schnitzer in the 2018 ADAC GT Masters.
The fourth driver in the test will be Nick Yelloly who finished as vice-champion in the 2018 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
BMW are yet to confirm their drivers for the 2019 DTM and has got at least one open seat as Augusto Farfus has been confirmed to switch to GTs for BMW, as well as joining Catsburg with Hyundai in the WTCR.
