First public run for new for 2020 ETCR car at Barcelona
The new Cupra e-Racer, which will be part of the first all-electric touring car series due to debut in 2020, has completed its first public demonstration runs by ex-WTCC driver Jordi Gene.
The car, which is rear-wheel drive and generates the equivalent of 680bhp, completed a series of laps around the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona following the official launch of the series.
Gene remarked that the car offered “more torque than any touring car I’ve driven before” and that the sound inside the car was no different to previous machinery the Spaniard has driven.
Head of the ETCR promoter, WSC Technology, Marcello Lotti said that the new ETCR series would eventually “overtake motorsport as we know it” in the future.
