Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky: “I never stopped seeing it as a victory”
Following the SBF’s decision today reinstating the race results of the SEAT-backed PWR Racing team’s results at Karlskoga, Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky has now been officially confirmed as the first female race winner in the STCC and of a top level TCR series championship.
The 25-year-old saw her milestone result in the championship removed just two hours after the race, after she converted the reversed grid pole position to victory at the Gelleråsen Arena, finishing ahead of STCC stalwarts Mattias Andersson and Johan Kristoffersson.
With the results reinstated, Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s victory has been confirmed, and has also elevated her to ninth place in the championship standings heading to this weekend’s season finale.
“I never stopped seeing it as a victory,” said Åhlin-Kottulinsky.
“For me and the team it has always been clear that our performance gave us this result. It’s really nice to get this message, and those who doubted us now get to know that I and the whole team stand as rightful victors of both races at Karlskoga Motor Stadium. I’m now looking forward to the STCC finale at Mantorp Park this weekend.”
