José Manuel Sapag to join Monza grid
José Manuel Sapag will become the first South American driver to compete in TCR Europe series when he joins this grid this weekend at Monza.
The 22-year old from Argentina will drive a Cupra run by the Spanish outfit Baporo Motorsport on his debut in the series.
Sapag has already raced in the Argentine TC 2000 and Top Race series. In the current season he sits in the TC 2000 standings at the wheel of a Citroën C4 and won the Alcañiz round of the Campeonato España Resistencia in a Baporo Motorsport Cupra on what was his first taste of TCR machinery.
“I’m very happy with this opportunity to take part in another European event after the CER race at Alcañiz,” he said.
“TCR is an excellent platform for my apprenticeship as a touring car driver and to race at an historical circuit like Monza in a top level championship like TCR Europe fits perfectly within the sporting programme I am going through in the Argentine touring car series.”
