Andrew Jordan surprised by practice pace
Andrew Jordan admitted he was surprised to find himself at the sharp end of the times after ending up second quickest in the final practice session of the weekend at Silverstone.
The WSR driver sits fourth in the BTCC standings going into the weekend which means carrying additional ballast on his BMW 125i M Sport, but the former champion made light of that with a strong showing that saw him just edged out of top spot by Mike Bushell.
It leaves Jordan optimistic about his chances for qualifying, with Colin Turkington, Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram all finding themselves outside the top 15 on the times at the end of practice.
“I’m wondering when the others are going to turn it on for qualifying,” he said. “The car feels really good this weekend and we have it in the sweet spot; we haven’t had to change a great deal. I’m not sure how much more we have to give but this is a circuit where it’s all about small gains.
“I’m feeling good about qualifying and if we can back this pace up with a good place on the grid then it will set us up to get some strong points on the board on race day. Looking at where the others are at the moment, that could give us a big boost in terms of the championship fight.”
