Andre Kiil replaces Alex Andersson at Rudskogen
Estonionian driver Andre Kiil will make his Scandinavian Touring Car Championship return this weekend, replacing Alex Andersson in the Brovallendesign Audi RS 3 LMS, with the team aiming to increase to two cars for the season finale.
Kiil raced earlier in the year at Anderstorp, driving a Cupra TCR for ALM Motorsport, but will take over the car of Andersson for this weekend in a last-minute deal.
“We have been in dialogue since Anderstorp and hope that he will also run the final,” said team principal Tobias Johansson.
Kiil’s looking forward to the weekend, but with rain, as ever, forecast for the STCC weekend, the 29-year-old is wary of the possible conditions.
“It feels good with the car and with the team,” said Kiil. “The only thing that worries is if it’s raining, I’ve never driven a TCR car on wet surfaces.
“If it’s dry, the goal is to be among the top ten but I hope for the top five. It is a high goal but the track is new to everyone, and at this round I won’t be carrying the penalty weight I had at Anderstorp.”
Team principal Johansson added:
“The goal is to have two cars on the track when the final of the year at Mantorp Park. Alex Andersson in one car, and Andre Kiil in the other.”
