Robert Dahlgren ready to put Karlskoga behind him
2017 STCC champion Robert Dahlgren is planning to put Karlskoga’s results behind him and quickly turn focus to the next race, after his worst weekend of the season at Gelleråsen Arena.
The PWR Racing Cupra driver qualified just behind his two team-mates Philip Morin and Daniel Haglöf, despite carrying the 20kg success ballast after his results at Falkenberg last month, but dropped to fifth in the first race behind the Volkswagens of Johan Kristoffersson and Andreas Wernersson.
Soon after the race it was confirmed all three of the finishing PWR cars were disqualified due to an irregularity with the team’s exhausts, meaning Dahlgren’s first no-score of the season.
In Race 2 he finished seventh, promoted to sixth following team-mate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky ’s exclusion for a similar infraction, and has now lost the championship lead to Kristoffersson by just one point.
“It’s definitely been my worst weekend of the last two years,” said Dahlgren to TouringCarTimes.
“It was a tough weekend. It is a combination of carrying weight, but I shouldn’t just blame that, we made a few decisions that didn’t go our way. The combination of that made us not having the edge and it made it hard to race.”
