Adam Morgan disappointed after Diamond Double denial
Ciceley Motorsport’s Adam Morgan had a weekend to forget at the last round of the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton, after contact ruled him out of the points in the closing stages of the 60 mile race, further dropping him down the rankings.
The early championship leader is now ninth in the points, after running as high as fifth in the double points third race of the weekend which would have seen him recover ground in the championship. However, he slid off track during one the surprise rain showers, which dropped him into the chasing pack, and then his car was damaged in an incident with Power Maxed Racing’s Josh Cook.
“There are good days and bad days and this has been an absolute shocker,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes. “We had the pace in the car, we qualified seventh without the weight on and showed the pace in Race 3, but then unfortunately got taken out. I felt like a very innocent victim, going down the back straight and then suddenly get taken off.
“The double points race is a good idea, but only if you get in the points,” he added. “If you don’t, the gap to everyone else is double what it should have been. The lead doesn’t just creep away, it’s quite a big jump.
“We’ll put this weekend behind us and move on. At least we won’t be carrying much weight in qualifying or Race 1 at Rockingham.”
