Tom Ingram unconcerned by lost track time
Tom Ingram insisted he wasn’t concerned by the loss of track time after running into issues during the opening BTCC practice session of the weekend.
The Speedworks driver caused the session to be halted mid-way through after an electrical issue on his Toyota Avensis saw him come to a halt on the circuit, with the reigning Independents’ champion being unable to return to action as track conditions improved.
It left him well down the order in terms of the times having failed to run a lap when the circuit was at its driest but Ingram said he wasn’t unduly worried.
“I was coming out of turn two and the car gave a bit of a cough and a splutter and then just died on me,” he said. “I couldn’t get it pulled out of the way so had to wait for tow back, and the team is now looking into it to see what the cause was – it’s probably going to be one of those annoying little things.
“If you look at the pace in that session, we haven’t really lost anything as a lot of people didn’t set proper times and there wasn’t really anything meaningful for us to take away from it. It’s a shame we’ve lost the time track time, but I’d much rather lose it in a session like that.”
