Josh Cook: “It wasn’t the ideal start”

Josh Cook admitted that the opening practice session of the BTCC weekend at Snetterton hadn’t been ideal after contact with team-mate Senna Proctor left him watching from the sidelines.

Cook slid into the rear of his Power Maxed Racing partner on his out lap at the start of the session, when conditions were at their most tricky following a heavy rain shower earlier in the morning.

It left the two-time race winner to watch on from the garage as the team carried out repairs to his Astra, with his focus now turning to FP2 later this morning.

“I was on the radio doing a check at the time and probably only doing 50-60mph – so it certainly wasn’t because I was pushing too hard,” he said. “The front end just locked and it was unfortunate that Senna was in front of me. There were a few people who went off behind me but they didn’t have anyone to hit! Luckily Senna was able to continue and get some laps under his belt.

“We’ve not lost anything in terms of data or things like that from the session although it’s not ideal to have left the guys with work to do to repair the car. It would have been good to get some laps done and to just circulate a bit but I don’t think we’d have gained much in terms of meaningful information.”
