Jack Goff: “We could have gone quicker”

Jack Goff admitted that he could have gone quicker despite snaring pole position for the sixth meeting of the BTCC season at Snetterton.

The Eurotech driver had set the pace during second free practice session at the wheel of his Honda Civic Type-R and emerged on top of a four-way Honda battle for pole.

Edging out Team Dynamics driver Dan Cammish by just 0.074secs, Goff posted a new qualifying lap record in taking pole for the second season in a row – leaving him well placed to now try and fight back from the challenging weekend endured by the team at Croft prior to the summer break.

“We made a 50/50 call on something with the car after practice and the car wasn’t quite as good as in FP2, so we know there could still be more in it,” he said. “I think we got everything we could from it but when we get the car spot on, I know there are a few more tenths in it.

“The most important thing was to get ourselves at the front of the grid and to have all three of the Eurotech cars in the top four is great when you consider that we didn’t have a car in the top 20 at Croft.

“The team has done a fantastic job and to take pole for the second year in a row here is great. We know have to take some weight out ready for the second qualifying session and see what we can do there as I’d love to double up.”

The second qualifying session will determine the grid for Sunday’s Diamond Double race, which runs for 20 laps and offers double points.
