Hyundai joins TCR Germany with Team Engstler

Hyundai will be represented in TCR Germany for the first time from the next round of the season at the Nürburgring.

Team Engstler will run two i30 N TCRs under the Hyundai Team Engstler banner for the remainder of the season, with the cars also set to then run a full campaign in the series in 2019.

Luca Engstler and Théo Coicaud, who have driven Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs under the Liqui Moly Team Engstler banner so far in 2018, will drive the two cars.

The pair currently sit third and 21st in the championship standings.

“TCR Germany is the logical next step in our motorsport commitment for Hyundai Germany, and in the past few years we have set our sights on the series with our entries in the VLN and at the 24h races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife,” Markus Schrick, managing director of Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, said.

“We have a high-performance vehicle that appeals to customers emotionally with the Hyundai i30 N. We are very pleased that we have an experienced and successful partner at our side with Team Engstler.”
