Tom Coronel hopes tyre puncture issues have been resolved
Tom Coronel got through his first session of the day without experiencing a front-left puncture in qualifying, qualifying his Boutsen Ginion Honda Civic in ninth position after stopping in both Free Practice 1 and 2 in Slovakia.
Coronel eventually led the way in Free Practice 1, although the Dutchman was likely one of very few drivers who opted to run new tyres in the first session on his Honda Civic TCR. He’d returned to the pits earlier in the session with a front-left puncture, which he then experienced again at the start of the second practice, while team-mate Benjamin Lessennes also experienced two punctures in practice.
“It’s the tyre pressures we think, but we’re not sure,” said Coronel to TouringCarTimes. “Every time on the first two laps out of the pits we had tyre trouble, so we just put in more pressure and less camber.”
