Mike Rockenfeller puts Audi on top in final Norisring practice

Mike Rockenfeller provided Audi with a glimpse of hope in an otherwise dreadful DTM weekend for the German manufacturer by being fastest in the final practice session at the Norisring.

The Audi RS 5 DTM driver lapped the street circuit in 47.839 and was over three tenths of a second faster than race one-winner Edoardo Mortara in second place.

Mercedes colleague Paul di Resta managed to set the exact same time as Mortara, 48.159, with Daniel Juncadella in fourth and Gary Paffett in fifth.

Nico Müller, who qualified best of the Audi drivers yesterday, was sixth fastest ahead of manufacturer colleague Loic Duval in seventh.

Marco Wittmann was fastest of the BMW drivers, rounding off the top eight, 0.417 seconds behind.

Qualifying for the final race of the weekend starts at 11:10 CEST.
