Adam Morgan: “We’re taking it one race at a time”
Adam Morgan says he is taking ‘one race at a time’ as he heads for the fifth meeting of the BTCC season at Croft this weekend.
The Ciceley Motorsport man lost the championship lead last time out at Oulton Park, with the additional success ballast on his Mercedes A Class ultimately hampered his chances of adding to the wins he secured at Donington Park and Thruxton.
Although he slipped behind Colin Turkington as a result, Morgan remains well placed in the standings and with less ballast on his car, will seek to try and go into the summer break on a high.
He did concede however that BMW racer Turkington is likely to be strong at a circuit where rear-wheel drive cars have always gone well.
“We go to Croft second in the championship,” he said, “and we’ll carry the weight for third as we’re joint with (Jack) Goff which is a bit of a silver lining.
“Colin Turkington has had an unbelievable record at Croft, so we’re looking at going into the half-way break knowing Colin will have a comfortable lead, but we’re taking it one race at a time.
“As boring as it sounds, we’re just aiming for a good race two and race three and aiming for a good haul of points. Going in with weight, it’s difficult to qualify, and I also hate qualifying, I much prefer racing.”
