Julien Briché aiming for podium at Spa-Francorchamps

Julien Briché was third in his Peugeot 308TCR at Spa-Francorchamps, despite earlier expectations that he would have to benefit from the reversed grid. The JSB Compétition driver admits he was surprised with his qualifying pace.

“Qualifying was good,” said the Frenchman to TouringCarTimes. “Our goal was to be in the top ten to make use of the reversed grid, but it turned out to be better than this. We are third, but the race will be complicated. We are trying to get to grips with the Peugeot and we are discovering something new all the time.”

The Peugeot driver thinks the first lap will be crucial, and then tyres will play a big part in the way the race develops.

“It’s going to depend a lot on the first lap, the top five drivers will want to try and have a go at the win. It’s going to be about tyre management, avoiding incidents and getting a good setup to be gentle with the tyres. I want to finish the race and, if possible, get on the podium.”
