Jamie Green tops first free practice at the Hungaroring

Jamie Green led an Audi Sport 1-2-3-4 in first free practice session at the Hungaroring ahead of the third round of the DTM season.

The Briton set a best lap time of 1:38.351 to edge Robin Frijns out of top spot by just 0.013 seconds, with reigning champion René Rast an impressive third in his rebuilt RS 5 DTM. Nico Müller completed the Audi top four with a best time four-tenths of a second off the pace.

Joel Eriksson was best of the rest in fifth for BMW, with Daniel Juncadella the fastest Mercedes AMG driver in sixth, half a second behind Green.

BMW drivers Marco Wittmann and Philipp Eng followed, with Paul di Resta ninth for Mercedes AMG. Standings leader Timo Glock completed the top ten for BMW, seven-tenths off the pace.

BMW’s Augusto Farfus and Mercedes AMG’s Gary Paffett, the only driver to have repeat victories this season, followed behind having set the same lap time, 0.781 second behind Green.

Action resumes tomorrow morning for second free practice at 8:35 CET.
